The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mars Antennas & RF Systems Pvt Ltd to collaborate on the design, development, fabrication, and testing of Smart EV Chargers and Smart Hybrid Inverters for Energy Storage System (ESS) applications. This partnership aims to drive innovation in sustainable energy solutions and strengthen India’s EV and energy storage ecosystem. The agreement promotes knowledge exchange, joint research, and industry collaboration to develop efficient, commercially viable, and standards-compliant technologies. Mars Antennas will provide funding, industry expertise, and access to manufacturing and testing facilities, while IIT Kanpur will contribute research capabilities and technical expertise under the leadership of Dr. Amarendra Edpuganti.
Speaking on the collaboration, IIT Kanpur Director Prof. Manindra Agrawal highlighted its alignment with the government’s vision for clean tech manufacturing and innovation. Dr. Amarendra Edpuganti emphasized that the partnership will bridge the gap between research and real-world applications, enabling scalable and efficient solutions. Mr. Arbind Kumar Pilania, CEO of MARS Energy & Mobility, noted that the collaboration reflects a strong industry-academia synergy, aiming to develop cutting-edge technologies, generate employment, and boost regional growth. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months and deliver significant advancements in energy efficiency and EV infrastructure in India.
